Steve Jobs Interview in Playboy 24 Years Later →
Everyone should read the full interview. You will be literally awed with his responses.
Excerpts from the interview below:
When asked why Jobs was seemingly happier in showing off the computer to the kid as opposed to the adults, Jobs responded -
“Older people sit down and ask, “What is it?” but the boy asks, “What can I do with it?””
Jobs on why the computer industry is dominated by young...
Seniority Gets In the Way
Asian management style is always full of “respect” for seniority when it comes to deciding positions and compensations. Older and somewhat more experienced people have to be moved up first rather than the new ones.
Unfortunately for me, I cannot get the compensation package I was hoping for because one of my bosses believe that it “doesn’t look good” for someone...

IT Fresh Grad Salary Range
The majority that earns below 8k is probably on minimum wage. I could say that for a lot of the schools who churn out MS developers and end up to be data encoders.

According to Jobstreet,
A typical Fresh Grad / < 1 Year Experienced Employee with a High School Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology, working in Philippines earns an average salary of Peso8,000.00. Others...

– Tim Cook, Apple’s COO on Low-cost Netbooks
For me, netbooks are a step backward. Small screens limit a multimedia experience which is what this day and age is all about. Netbooks are *cough* underpowered *cough*.

Sick, Tired and Disappointed
Sick - I’ve been running on a fever for the last 3 weeks experiencing it 1-2 times a day at different times of the day.
Tired - Been sleeping at 2am for 2 nights in a row and running meetings early in the morning.
Disappointed - Had a company event today and had only 3 people turn out. Those 3 people were also just kicking tires and just curious so they had zero value.
On top of that, I...
New Title = Expanded Work = Higher Compensation
My first 6 months have been great here at FutureProof Asia. My bosses have recognized my skills and capabilities and thus have expanded the amount of work I will be doing (gasp) but I will be taking on a managerial role. Of course, a new title and additional work expects to be equally well-compensated and will be reflecting on my paycheck very soon. =)
Burger Days
In the last 24 hours, I’ve had 2 great burgers.
1. Cyma’s Bifteka
Really flavorful and healthy burger right here. It’s made with wagyu beef, different types of greens, a large tomato, slice of onion and the best part is… a big fat slice of feta cheese. Served with about 8 large cuts of potatoes drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and roasted.

The thing about goals
From Seth Godin’s blog:
Having goals is a pain in the neck.
If you don’t have a goal (a corporate goal, a market share goal, a personal career goal, an athletic goal…) then you can just do your best. You can take what comes. You can reprioritize on a regular basis. If you don’t have a goal, you never have to worry about missing it. If you don’t have a goal you...

It’s an article on the Männerspielplatz (literally “men’s playground”). It is the creation of Alexander Bammer. He says “I hear ‘It’s better than sex’ a lot.”
It looks loads of fun. And if that’s what he’s saying, I’d want to experience the stuff that goes on - soon.

Teaching Business Intelligence is Hella Hard
I thought teaching was gonna be a breeze. But it ain’t. More so if you’re teaching a tricky topic like Business Intelligence.
Preparing materials for a 3-hour class for the first time took me about 8-10 hours to finish. That doesn’t include preparing myself to properly explain it in a way that students would understand.
Business Intelligence is highly abstract unlike discussing...

Brain enhancement has always intrigued me ever since I started watching the anime series, Ghost in the Shell. Evidence that college students are trading and using medications that improve cognitive functions signifies that there is a need for cognitive enhancement. Students who tackle more and more information needs to be processed more efficiently and effectively.

Level of Financial (In)dependence Heavily...
One of those nights again. This is heavily philosophical and might make you ask your self questions. I’ve been thinking about how your financial (in)dependence affects the way you think and I can properly explain it now. This isn’t from self-help books because I don’t read any. I actually hate ‘em. Anyway…
